Public Notice South Highway Water District Ox Yoke Watermain Construction Touch of Nature Booster Pump Replacement
The South Highway Water District proposed Ox Yoke Watermain/Touch of Nature Booster Pump Station project was financed wholly by the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Agency.
SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.
The Estimate of Cost for the proposed project is approximately $561,000. Of that amount, $265,000 will be forgiven by IEPA. The remainder loan amount of $296,000 will be repaid to IEPA over a 20 year term at a 0.93% interest rate.
The proposed project includes construction of the following items:
· Construct 1,700 L.F. of 4” Class 200 PVC Watermain · Flushing Hydrants with Auxiliary Gate Valves · New Service Connections · Service Line Reconnections · Remove Existing Touch of Nature Pump Station · Construct a new Touch of Nature (TON) Pump Station · TON Pump Station Electrical Service · TON Pump Station Telemetry · TON Pump Station Emergency Power Generator · TON Pump Station Site Fence
The proposed watermains are required to supply the existing customers currently being served by shared water meters and service lines and to be in compliance with IEPA regulations.
The TON Pump Station and appurtenances are necessary due to the condition of the existing equipment which was originally constructed in 1970s. The existing equipment is beyond its normal life expectancy and should be replaced as soon as possible.
The completed project will improve the water quality for the Boskeydell area residents, Touch of Nature and Giant City Park and the South Highway Water District distribution system. Mowing Season: Please be careful when mowing around water meters. Our new meters have electronic devices inside. If your meter is damaged the cost is approximately $300. There will be a fee charged if any meter is destroyed or damaged. Prices for the repair or replacement vary by damage. Please be careful when mowing around your meter. |
