Boil Water Order
South Highway Water District will install a 4” water main in front of 27 Roosevelt Road in Carbondale. It is necessary to shut down the water main. All customers on Roosevelt Road will be under be under a boil water order until further notice. If you live in the immediate area and have low pressure, take precautionary measure and boil water until further notice. Customers living in the specific areas should boil water for 5 minutes before consumption.
The boil order will remain in effect until laboratory sampling confirms that water quality has been fully restored. We are anticipating the Boil Water Order will be lifted Wednesday, December 15, 2021 in the afternoon. When it is lifted the Boil Water Order signs will be removed, the website shwd.viewmybill.net and answering machine will be updated to notify customers the boil water order has been lifted.

LIHWAP: EMERGENCY WATER ASSISTANCE: There is a new temporary federal program that offers one-time payments to qualifying customers who are struggling to pay their water and wastewater bills during the pandemic. Billing Information:
October 14 -November 14, 2021 bills were mailed November 17, and due December 10, 2021. Last day to pay a previous balance is Monday, November 29, 2021 to avoid disconnection and a $75 fee. Last day to pay for any outstanding balances in Tuesday, December 28, 2021.

Application and Starting Service Deposit Information:
All new customers will need to complete an application to start service. The District will need a deposit (see below for rates), a signed application, a copy of your driver’s license and or state id to start water service.
Water services can be provided (Monday-Friday) if deposit and application are received by 3:00p.m.

Returned Checks: There is a $20 fee for all returned checks

Payments can be made at the office door slot anytime Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30p.m. (Customers can pay with cash that is sealed in an envelope, by check or money order.)
Customers also may pay:
1)South Highway Water ACH no charge, down load form, complete and drop off form and voided check. Payment made through your bank on due date.
2)on-line with a credit card to shwd.viewmybill.net
3) by calling toll-free (855-483-5729). Identification code is 6295811. There is a processing fee to use a credit card.
4) First Mid-Illinois-Monday-Thursday 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m., Friday 8:30a.m. to 5:00p.m., Saturday 9:00a.m. – 12:00p.m.Drive-Up Hours-Monday-Friday 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m., Saturday 8:00a.m. -12:00p.m.
We encourage all customers to sign-up for our on-line billing services. Each month you will receive an email to view and/or pay your bill. If you choose, you may pay on-line. This will be one sure way we can ensure you get your bill in a timely manner.
The District offers ACH (Automated Clearing House) with no extra charge, contact the office located at 111 Cedar Creek Road, Makanda, IL 62958 and complete the form. Each month the draft is set-up automatically to deduct your water bill directly from your checking/savings account. See click link above for form.
Mowing Season:
Please be careful when moving around water meters. Our new meters have electronic devices inside. If your meter is damaged the cost is approximately $150. There will be a fee charged if any meter is destroyed or damaged. Prices for the repair or replacement vary by damage. Please be careful when mowing around your meter.
Water Rates:
Single Unit 16.25 for the first 1,000 gallons and $7.50 for each 1,000 after the first 1,000 is used
Multi Unit 20.85 for the first 1,000 gallons and $7.50 for each 1,000 after the first 1,000 is used
